An extensive album of photos taken by Chief Quartermaster John Lenart during the U.S.S. Chester's Pacific cruise in the mid 1930s.

Five fellow USMC instructors (in a heap) of Sgt. Gilbert Rickman, paramarine from Buckley, W. Va., obligingly pile up while the Guadalcanal Marine veteran demonstrates how the five Japs he killed in a dugout hand-to-hand battle looked after he was finished.
